Silicon Valley is constantly evolving, and this month is no exception. From transit-oriented apartments in Redwood City to massive "city-within-a-city" projects in Santa Clara, the landscape of our local communities is shifting toward higher density, better transit access, and more inclusive housing.
Here is the latest update on the major development projects currently shaping our neighborhoods.
Redwood City & San Carlos
Redwood City Discovery | 📍 1330 El Camino Real
This 6-story residential project is set to bring 130 new units to a key transit corridor, replacing the current site of Happy Donuts and The Record Man.
- The Mix: Includes 26 below-market-rate (BMR) options and underground parking.
- Current Status: Following its 2023 approval, the project is in the final permitting phase. While major demolition hasn't started as of early 2026, construction is expected to take about two years once the project "goes vertical." It sits directly across from the massive ELCO Yards development, signaling a total transformation for this area.
